GSA CALC+ by 1102tools privacy notice

The short version
This hosted version is a free convenience, so you can use these tools without installing anything. It's set up to collect as little as possible. Nothing here is for sale, and there's no reason to track you.
- No tracking. There are no accounts, cookies or user profiles, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
- 1102tools doesn't log or keep your IP address. Cloudflare, which runs the network, strips it before your request reaches the 1102tools server.
- Your searches aren't logged or saved, and nobody at 1102tools reads them. They're used only to get your answer from GSA CALC+.
- To answer faster and serve more people at once, recent public answers from GSA CALC+ stay in the server's memory for up to 12 hours and are then deleted. The cache holds the public answer, not who asked.
- CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information) is a question for your AI app, not for this server. It only looks up public GSA CALC+ data and gets only the search your AI sends, never your chat or files. Whether CUI can go in your chat depends on your AI app and your agency's or company's rules.

What this service receives
- The tool name and the details your AI client sends, such as labor categories, search terms, vendor names, experience levels and rates. Don't put names, confidential acquisition details or other sensitive information in them.
- Connection details, including your IP address, which Cloudflare handles as described below.
You don't need an account or API key.

Where your request goes
- Cloudflare receives your request and strips your IP address, location and browser details. It then passes the request through an encrypted tunnel to a server 1102tools runs, which gets the data from GSA's CALC+ labor rate data and sends back the answer. If that server is down, a copy hosted by Cloudflare answers instead.
- GSA CALC+ sees requests coming from 1102tools, not from you, and handles them under its own policies.
- Your AI client (Claude, ChatGPT or another app) receives the answer and handles your conversation under its own privacy policy.

What is kept, and for how long
- Your searches and results: not logged and not saved, apart from the answer cache below.
- Answer cache: public answers from GSA CALC+ are kept for up to 12 hours, so a repeat question is answered instantly, more people can use the service at once, and the government site isn't asked the same thing twice. Entries are filed under a scrambled fingerprint of the request, kept only in memory (never in a file or database), and erased when they expire or the server restarts. The Cloudflare-hosted backup keeps its own cache only while it is running.
- Service records: for each call, Cloudflare keeps a record of the tool's name, which AI app sent it (such as Claude or ChatGPT; for any other app, the name it gives itself), which server answered, whether it worked, how long it took, and the names of the standard labels the AI app attached to the call (for example, that ChatGPT included its anonymous user ID, never the ID itself), for 7 days. These records contain no search terms, results, user IDs, IP address, location or browser details.
- Request limits: to stop abuse, Cloudflare counts requests in one-minute windows: 10 a minute from each connection address, or 600 for Claude's and ChatGPT's own servers. Because ChatGPT's servers carry many people, each ChatGPT user is also held to 10 a minute, counted under a scrambled copy of the anonymous user ID ChatGPT attaches to each call. The ID itself is never stored, and the scrambled copy is kept only for that one-minute count.
- Cloudflare's traffic records: Cloudflare keeps its own records of requests, including IP addresses, under its privacy policy. 1102tools uses only overall counts from them, such as calls per server per day, and doesn't download or keep IP addresses.
- The 1102tools server keeps no request logs.
- Support email is kept only as long as needed to answer it.

Your choices
- There are no accounts and nothing about you is stored, so there's no profile to see or delete. For privacy questions, or to have support email deleted, write to james@1102tools.com.
